All the Steps Involved in Moving

First, look online for houses. All the ones in your price range and in your desired location suck. So you slowly begin to increase your price range, $25 at a time until you’re $200 over budget.

Call every time you see a house you like. Learn the person who called before you just signed the lease.

Panic because you realize your move-out date is creeping up. Get annoyed because your apartment neighbors are increasingly obnoxious.

Find a house you love in a location you love in your new price range. Call the landlord. It was just taken.

Keep searching for houses, feeling a hole of despair growing in your chest each additional day.

Find out on the web that the house you loved is available again. Rush to the landlord’s office to put down money in earnest before you even see the inside.

Arrange a showing for your new house and arrive at the same time as another couple. Awkwardly tell them you just put down money to move in. They make faces and pretend they hate the house the rest of the visit.

Gather the down payment and realize you were not as prepared as you thought to move this quickly.

Realize your lease has to be signed by noon the next day, even though the landlord never told you that. Realize why the house was available again.

You can rest in two months when you’ve moved all your crap.
