December Reading Challenge Themes to Chill To
Listen: I’m terrible with reading challenges. I don’t know that I’ve ever actually completed one. My TBR list has become an entire bookshelf.
Does that stop me from loving the idea of planning themed reading challenge months? Absolutely not.
Here are some challenge themes I’d love to accomplish (but probably won’t) this December:
Winter Gothic
Dive into some chilling tales of snow-covered landscapes, spooky mansions, and isolation in the cold. These would be great winter nighttime reads with a hint of unsettling.
For this challenge, I’d finally read:
- The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell
- Snowblind by Ragnar Jónasson
- The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon
Festive Horror
I love the idea of horror novels set during the more festive parts of the year. Christmas slashers? Love them. Hungry snow creatures? Yes, please. Ghosts in scarves? Bring it on.
- Hark! The Herald Angels Scream
- Twelve Nights at Rotter House by J.W. Ocker
- Black Christmas by Lee Hays
- Greenglass House by Kate Milford
