In 1996, Crista Bramlitt was a 23-year-old woman living in a New Providence, Tennessee mobile home. New Providence, once a small railroad town, was taken over by the nearby town of Clarksville. In the following years, the area experienced increasing crime rates, including business burglaries and drug-related offenses. Unfortunately, Crista Bramlitt became a victim of the problems facing New Providence.

Over 22 years later, DNA evidence has led to an arrest in Crista’s murder.

Crista Bramlitt’s Murder

On the afternoon of October 28, 1996, Crista Bramlitt’s landlord knocked on the door of her mobile home in Sunnydale Mobile Home Park just off Peachers Mill Road. The landlord hoped to speak with Crista about a recent fire. Nobody answered.

Crista has only just moved into the mobile home, and she lived alone. Crista had two very young children, but they moved with her mother to Corpus Christi, Texas. Crista hoped to stay behind because she wanted to finish her GED program.

While trying to get in touch with Crista, the landlord found something terrible. Crista was in her mobile home, but she was no longer alive. She had suffered throat injuries, but her cause of death was suffocation.
