This episode is . . . obnoxious.

The family surprised Michelle with a vacation to Japan and China for her birthday. She quickly explains that while we just saw her get a makeover in the previous episode, she prefers the “classic style that she had before.”

The family is going to Japan and China for three weeks. Jessa has packed and organized luggage for everybody except Grandma, it appears. Apparently she’s been doing this for years. Michelle says the family packed enough snacks for a month. Do they not think that other countries have snacks? They load all the luggage into a box truck.

Jim Bob says it’s important for the kids to experience different cultures, but I mean, we just watched you load a bunch of snacks into luggage for a trip to Japan.

Michelle says she anticipates the trip will be full of rice and maybe some sushi. Her goals for the family are to “smile a lot and bow a lot.”

Jim Bob wakes everybody up on the intercom system, which seems like it would be very obnoxious.

Anna laughs about how late the family always is. She feeds everybody waffles, which seems like a terrible idea for a family that is already struggling to get out the door. Hand those kids some breakfast bars and GTFO.

The flight to Tokyo is apparently 13 hours. They get to a hotel that looks very nice. The view from the rooms seems pretty breathtaking. One of the boys says that he thought he had…
