Hostel Review: Generator in London, England
The first hostel I ever stayed in was the Generator Hostel in London. I chose it for its proximity to Kings Cross Station, Russell Square, and Regents Park. It’s also just a 15-minute walk from the British Museum. It looked like a totally walkable spot — and it was!
Apparently, Generator London was once a police station. This helps create a really fun atmosphere, and I really liked the vibe of the place. It was well-decorated and not at all austere.
The employees at Generator London were super friendly and helpful, and so where some of the people staying in my room. This hostel was full of people sightseeing and willing to meet new people.
The Rooms
The biggest problem with the hostel was the fact that several people in my room had their locks smashed and at least one had their computer stolen the day before I arrived. There was one person in the room everybody suspected of doing it, and that created a weird dynamic in my 12-person room.
I stayed in a room with 11 other women, but you can also book private rooms, small dorms, and rooms with four people. You can also choose between mixed-sex or female-only rooms.
