I Read the ‘Sister Wives’ Book: Part 10 — A Very Meri Family

Meri tells us that the Browns have developed a system for “running” the family. This chapter is mainly about parenting and the challenges they face in polygamy. Honestly, these chapters are really repetitive and I’m starting to lose track of the point of some of them? Like do we really need all four wives to tell us the specifics of their financial system four separate times or the fact that Meri likes things neat?

Meri says that after Janelle and Kody got married, all three shared one bank account. Over time, Janelle felt that Meri was controlling the finances, and it was detrimental to the relationship. Since then, the family has opted for each wife to keep finances separate.

Meri says that now bills are divided based on each wife’s income level. Even if the bills are not technically in that person’s name, they may divide things based on who has a pool of resources.

Meri talks about parenting, saying that Meri was a different kind of mom because she likes order and quiet. She has “clear ideas about when and how to discipline the kids” and struggles with kids “being disrespectful.” She wants the kids to respect her things and points out twice in the same paragraph that her furniture lasts longer than the furniture of the other wives.
