I Read the ‘Sister Wives’ Book: Part 6 — Sorority, Indeed
Meri says that she idealized the idea of sister wives, and she wanted her first sister wife to be her best friend. She also says that, in general, she is “cautious” about relationships because she is reserved but opinionated.
Next, she delves into the courtship with the teenager Christine mentioned. She says they were close friends right away and spent a lot of time together. She was occasionally jealous, but when things ended she felt “personally betrayed.”
Meri describes her relationship with Janelle as initially “cordial.” She was surprised when Janelle wanted to join the family and was relieved when she saw that Janelle and Kody were not a conventionally romantic couple. She didn’t feel that Janelle was a threat to her relationship with Kody because they had a bond that was “intellectual.” She says that she and Kody had a “passionate, romantic” relationship while he and Janelle had a “more cerebral” connection.
We also learn that Janelle and Kody initially planned their wedding for Meri’s birthday. What the hell were they thinking? Not only is that super insensitive, but it also complicates your anniversary and wife’s birthday in years to come. Meri is right to feel slighted by this, especially because it took Kody’s mom coming in to move it to the day after her birthday.
