I Read the ‘Sister Wives’ Book: Part 9 — Robyn’s Big Fat Polygamist Wedding
Robyn tells us that the family didn’t have a lot of money for their marriage or her move to Lehi. Janelle had offered Robyn her home, but she wanted to “explore” her relationship with Kody on her own.
Kody wanted to have a big, fancy pants wedding because he believes that polygamists fail to value marriage ceremonies and receptions, not making the day special. Well, yeah, look at Christine’s wedding. Anyway, Robyn says she didn’t want all the attention and “drama.”
Robyn says she and Kody got engaged in September and hoped to be married by December. The wives weren’t happy about this because they wanted the holidays to remain free of distraction. January and February posed similar problems with birthdays and anniversaries. They considered getting married earlier, and then TLC came along.
Kody and Robyn apparently objected to the first episode being about their wedding. They wanted to show the “core” family first. This meant pushing Robyn’s wedding back to May. Fortunately, she was able to move closer to the family so they could plan the wedding.
Robyn wanted to involve the wives in wedding planning. They went dress shopping together to bond, and then later Kody swooped in and picked out the dress. The other wives were really hurt by this.
