Recap: ‘16 & Pregnant: Ebony’
Ebony is a high school senior from Colorado Springs. She’s been with her boyfriend, Josh, for over a year, and they’re engaged.
Ebony lives with her mom, who seems pretty lax. Josh’s parents are more strict. We see Josh telling his mom that he’s missed maybe 50 classes this semester “tops.” Both Ebony and Josh plan to join the Air Force after they graduate, but there’s a catch. She’s pregnant.
January — 27 Weeks
Ebony’s mom was “pretty bummed” when she found out Ebony was having a baby. Her mom says that she sat both of them down to talk about condoms, but apparently other forms of birth control were not on the table.
Ebony says that Josh’s parents were more upset about the pregnancy. His mom is laying into him about why he didn’t use the condoms she knows he has. His dad kinda just sits there.
Ebony says she thinks Josh will grow up as soon as he holds their baby, a little girl. Sure, Jan.
Ebony passes out baby shower invites at school. We see people in her classroom talking about teen pregnancy. Surprise, surprise, it’s boys talking about teenage girls getting pregnant.
