Retro Romance Reading: ‘Dream Maker’ by Kay Wilding
Dream Maker is a Harlequin Romance from 1993. It is the first book I’ve read by Kay Wilding, and I’m willing to say that it is my favorite of the Harlequins I’ve read so far. I always love a “being on the run” story.
The Blurb
Two for the road . . .
Low-down honky-tonks weren’t Tate Rabun’s cup of tea . . . not until the dreamiest, most scantily clad barfly in the joint boldly propositioned him. Tate fell head over heels . . . into a barroom brawl.
In a heartbeat, he was kissing his damsel senseless in a getaway taxi, and then — when he realized they were both broke — helping her escape in the back of a moving pickup.
Maggie Bennett was now jobless, homeless and penniless . . . and on the run with a hot-blooded man who was just one step ahead of the law!
First impression: Wow, truly wild. This sounds like the most scandalous book of the bunch so far.
The Heroine
Maggie Bennett aka Gloria La Grande. At 29, she has a world-class body with many curves and crannies. Black hair and bright blue eyes. She’s uptown but hangs out with “hillbillies” according to Tate. She’s a great singer.
