1841 — Edgar Allan Poe releases Murders in the Rue Morgue. It becomes the first detective story.

1865 — President Abraham Lincoln is shot by John Wilkes Booth at Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C. He dies the next morning.

2009 — Sarah Ludemann is killed by Rachel Wade after the two fight over the same man.
