2002 — Robert Blake is arrested in the shooting of his wife, Bonnie Lee Bakley. He was later acquitted in criminal court but found liable in civil court.

2003 — Scott Peterson is arrested for the murder of his wife, Laci, and the child she was pregnant with. She had disappeared on Christmas Eve. Peterson was convicted of the murder and sentenced to death.
