1965 — Teenager Michael Andrew Clark begins firing at cars on U.S. 101 near Orcutt, California. Three are killed and 10 are injured. Clark shot and killed himself.

1972 — Jeannette Kamahele, 20, is last seen hitchhiking near Highway 101. She reportedly entered a brown pickup truck with a wooden camper. Her body has not been found.
