1876 — Wild Bill Hickok is shot and killed by Jack McCall, a man who felt insulted by him the day before during a poker game.

1942 — Jose Diaz is murdered and found in the Sleepy Lagoon reservoir near Los Angeles. A racially charged court case followed. Those convicted were released from prison after two years.

2016 — Katrina Anne Vetrano is killed while running in Howard Beach, Queens. Chanel Lewis was found guilty after being linked to the crime by DNA evidence.
