1876 — Reverend Henry Weston Smith leaves a note on his door that he is going to preach at Crook City. He was murdered on the way, and his body was found along the road.

1940 — Louis Buchalter is indicted on charges of murder in Los Angeles after the murder of Harry Greenberg, a man with apparent mob ties. He was associated with several murders and receive a death sentence.

1978 — Five teenage boys, known as the Clinton Avenue Five, disappeared from Newark, New Jersey. The missing boys include Melvin Pittman (17), Ernest Taylor (17), Alvin Turner (16), Randy Johnson (16), and Michael McDowell (16). In 2008, a man named Philander Hampton confessed to luring the boys to his home, but no remains were found at the alleged site.

2007 — Amy Hebert, from Mathews, Louisiana, murders her two children and family dog to get revenge on her ex-husband. She was ultimately sentenced to life in prison.
