2006 — Dale Hausner and Samuel Dieteman are arrested after committing several drive-by shootings in the Phoenix area. The shootings targeted pedestrians at random between May 2005 and August 2006. They are believed to be responsible for eight murders and 29 other shootings.

2013 — Alexis Murphy, 17, goes missing from a Lovingston, Virginia, gas station. Evidence connected her death to Randy Taylor, who was found guilty of her death as well as the death of Samantha Clarke. Her body has not been found.

2013 — Hannah Anderson is abducted after cheer practice at El Capitan High School in Lakeside, California. The suspect was James DiMaggio, a man who had befriended her family. DiMaggio had killed Anderson’s mother, brother, and dog before the kidnapping. Anderson was found alive about a week later.
