1988 — Venus Xtravaganza, a performer, is murdered. She appeared in the documentary Paris Is Burning.

2018 — John Miller is convicted in the murder of April Tinsley, which occurred in 1988. Her case had been cold for decades. Miller was sentenced to 80 years in prison.
