1971 — Marie Dean Arrington is captured. In 1969, she’d been placed on the list of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives. Arrington had escaped from prison where she was awaiting execution based on the murder of a legal secretary named Vivian Ritter. In 1972, she would be sentenced to 10 additional years. Her death sentence was commuted to life in prison.

1973 — Theresa Walsh is last seen at Malibu’s Zuma Beach. She was hoping to hitchhike to her family’s home for Christmas. Her body was found six days later, and she’d been strangled. Her death is often associated with the Santa Rosa Hitchhiker Murders.
