1990 — Nelson Mandela is released from imprisonment in South Africa after 27 years.
2008 — Police issue a sketch of the man who entered a Tinley Park Lane Bryant a week earlier and shot six people, killing five. The crime remains unsolved.
2011 — The Maksim Gelman stabbings occur. The murder spree began in New York City and resulted in four deaths and five injuries. Maksim Gelman was arrested. He pleaded guilty to the crimes.
2014 — Governor Jay Inslee suspends the death penalty in Washington based on unfair and inconsistent practice.
