Today in True Crime History: February 14
1929 — The Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre occurs. Seven members of the North Side Gang in Chicago are murdered in Lincoln Park. The four assailants lined the men up and shot them. The perpetrators were dressed up as police officers and are officially unknown today.
1978 — San Diego County Jane Doe is found in Otay, California. The victim is a teenager between the ages of 14 and 18. She’d been dead for two days, but her face was not recognizable because somebody had tried to set her on fire after poisoning her. Her identity remains unknown today, and her case is still open.
1982 — The body of Valentine Sally is found in Williams, Arizona. She’d been dead for approximately two weeks. Her case remains unsolved, and her identity is unknown.
1988 — The posed body of a woman is found in Mount Vernon, New York. She is known as Westchester Jane Doe. On the day of her discovery, the victim had been deceased for up to 12 hours. This Jane Doe is 18 to 30 years old with light brown or blonde hair. Her identity is still unknown and her case remains unsolved.
2017 — The bodies of Abigail Williams and Liberty German are discovered in Delphi, Indiana near the Monon High Bridge Trail. The girls had disappeared February 13 while hiking. The case became prominently featured on the news because German had recorded audio and video of the individual believed to be the perpetrator. This case remains unsolved.
