1981 — Jean Harris is convicted of the murder of Herman Tarnower, the doctor who created the Scarsdale diet.

1986 — Sherri Rasmussen is killed in the Van Nuys, California, apartment she shares with her husband. The killer is her husband’s lover, Stephanie Lazarus. Lazarus, an LAPD officer, would not be officially charged and convicted until detectives examined cold case files in 2009.

2005 — David Hernandez Arroyo shoots his ex-wife and son outside a Tyler, Texas, courthouse. His ex-wife dies, as does a man who is shot when he tries to intervene. Arroyo was shot by police.
