Today in True Crime History: February 8
1968 — The Orangeburg massacre occurs. South Carolina Highway Patrol officers shoot protesters at South Carolina State University. About 200 people protested racial segregation at a bowling alley. Three protestors were killed and 27 others were injured.
1977 — Larry Flint is sentenced for obscenity charges for selling Hustler in Cincinnati. The conviction was appealed and ultimately overturned. Flint served a sentence of six days.
2017 — Reagan Tokes is murdered in Grove City, Ohio. The 21-year-old student was abducted at Brian Golsby after leaving work. Golsby had recently been released from prison for kidnapping and rape but was not being monitored while on parole. He was sentenced to life in prison in March 2018. That year, Governor John Kasich signed a portion of the Reagan Tokes Act.
