1935 — The trial of Bruno Hauptmann for the kidnapping and murder of the Lindbergh baby begins. He was executed in 1936.
1979 — Sid Vicious is on trial for the murder of his girlfriend, Nancy Spungeon. While out on bail, he died of an overdose.
1996 — Lauretha Vaird, a police officer, is shot and killed during a bank robbery in Philadelphia.
