1993 — The Brown’s Chicken Massacre occurs. It is a mass murder in Palatine, Illinois, in which two robbers at Brown’s Chicken restaurant killed seven employees. Nine years later, a clue led authorities to two people who were found guilty. Both were sentenced to life in prison.

2001 — A court rules that the identities of two boys who murdered toddler James Bulger will remain secret.
