1833 — Frances Stewart Silver is hanged in Morganton, North Carolina. She was accused of killing her husband with an axe.

1973 — Nancy Gidley, 24, a radiographer is last seen at a motel near Santa Rosa. She was found strangled three days later.

1976 — A custodian at California State University, Fullerton, commits mass murder.

1988 — Walter Ogrod assaults and murders 4-year-old Barbara Jean Horn. Ogrod was sentenced to death for the crimes. The veracity of his confession is apparently controversial.

2001 — Tot Harriman, 57, disappears while looking for a home. She was last seen on Highway 35. She and her car have not been found. Her disappearance is associated with the Texas Killing Fields.

2002 — Sarah Trusty, 23, is missing from Algoa, Texas. Her body is found days after she is last seen riding her bike. Her death is associated with the Texas Killing Fields.

2011 — Ame Deal, 10, is murdered in Phoenix. She had been the victim of abuse in her home and died of suffocation. Sammantha and John Allen were sentenced to death in 2017 for the murder, and Sammantha’s mother was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
