1973 — Carolyn Davis, 14, disappears after she is dropped off at the Garberville Post Office. She was hitchhiking on Highway 101 in Garberville when she is last seen. Her body was found on July 31 feet from where two bodies had been recovered.

1976 — A school bus, including a driver and 26 children, are abducted from Chowchilla, California. Three kidnappers demanded ransom, but the group was able to dig themselves out of the underground hiding place and escape.

1982 — Princess Doe is found in the Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Blairstown, New Jersey. She was between 15 and 20 when she died. She would become the first unidentified person to be entered into the National Crime Information Center. She remains unidentified, and her murder is unsolved.

1997 — Andrew Cunanan murders fashion designer Gianni Versace in front of his mansion on Miami Beach.

2008 — Caylee Anthony is reported missing by her grandmother. Her mother, Casey Anthony, was acquitted of her murder.
