1914 — The Cleary-Newman murder occurs, 20 miles outside of New York City in Haverstraw. The case involved a major political player murdering his son-in-law, a newspaper publisher.

1968 — The Glenville shootout occurs in Cleveland. The exchange between the Cleveland PD and a black power group lasted four hours. Seven people died and at least 15 were injured.

1997 — Andrew Cunanan, who murdered five people including Gianni Versace, dies by suicide.

2003 — Brandie Coleman and Nireah Johnson, a trans woman are murdered in Indianapolis by Paul Moore.

2007 — The Cheshire murders occur in which a family is attacked in their Cheshire, Connecticut home. The mother and her two daughters are killed. The father is severely injured. Steven Hayes and Joshua Komisarjevsky were found guilty of the crime. Both were sentenced to death, but both sentences are commuted to life sentences.
