1914 — The Cleary-Newman murder occurs, 20 miles outside of New York City in Haverstraw. The case involved a major political player murdering his son-in-law, a newspaper publisher.

1968 — The Glenville shootout occurs in Cleveland. The exchange between the Cleveland PD and a black power group lasted four hours. Seven people died and at least 15 were injured.
