1603 — Merga Bien is arrested for witchcraft. She, along with 250 others, are burned as part of the Fulda witch trials in Germany.

1982 — Vincent Jen Chin is attacked by two men after they allegedly used racial slurs against him. He died several days later. Ronald Ebens and Michael Nitz pleaded their charges down to manslaughter in 1983. They were ordered to pay $3,000 and serve three years of probation. They served no time in jail after getting into a fight with him at a bar, chasing him down, and beating him with a baseball bat.
