1973 — The Upstairs Lounge arson attack occurs. The gay bar in the French Quarter of New Orleans is attacked, killing 32 people.

1974 — Margaret Ellen Fox, 14, disappears from Burlington, New Jersey. She was apparently meeting a man named John Marshall about babysitting work he had advertised. She got on a bus to Mount Holly to meet him. A ransom call was made and provides a potential lead. No arrests have been made.

2002 — Richard Marc Edward Evonitz abducts Kara Robinson, 15, from her friend’s yard in Columbia, South Carolina. Robinson freed herself later and identified him to police. Evonitz, who is believed to be responsible for the deaths of at least three girls in Virginia, died by suicide as police surrounded him in Sarasota, Florida.

2007 — WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, 40, kills his wife (Nancy) and their son (Daniel) before dying by suicide.
