1816 — The U.S. Supreme Court affirms it has the right to review all state decisions.

1976 — Patty Hearst is convicted of a San Francisco bank robbery, which occurred after she was kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army.

1981 — Jean Harris is sentenced in the death of Herman Tarnower, the doctor who created the Scarsdale Diet.

2013 — Colorado passes a law requiring background checks for those who buy guns online or privately.

2017 — Timothy Caughman is picking up recycling in Manhattan when he is stabbed by James Harris Jackson. Caughman dies. Jackson admits the attack was racially motivated.
