1883 — Emeline Lucy Meaker becomes the first woman executed in Vermont. She was hanged for murdering her husband’s niece.

1975 — On Easter, James Ruppert murders 11 people in his mother’s Hamilton, Ohio, house. They are family members. Ruppert is serving two life sentences.

1981 — President Reagan is shot while leaving the Washington Hilton Hotel. The shooter is John Hinckley.

1995 — Deanna J. Cremin is found murdered near her home in Somerville, Massachusetts. Her case has not led to an arrest.

2017 — Donald Harvey, a serial killer who claimed to have murdered 87 people, dies. He was an orderly who claimed to kill people to “ease their pain”. He was serving 28 life sentences.
