1951 — The Lonely Hearts Killers are executed in the electric chair at Sing Sing Prison. Raymond Fernandez and Martha Jule Beck were convicted of killing one woman but may have more than 20 victims. The crimes occurred between 1947 and 1949. Fernandez would seduce the women they found in lonely hearts ads.
1990 — The “Zodiac Killer of New York City” shoots Mario Orozco, the first victim in the killings. He was identified as Heriberto Seda and was sentenced to 232 years in prison for killing 3 people and wounding 5.
1999 — The murder convictions of Timothy McVeigh are upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States. McVeigh had been found guilty on over 160 charges related to the Oklahoma City bombing. McVeigh would be executed by lethal injection in 2001.
