1969 — Joyce Malecki, 20, disappears in Baltimore. Her body is discovered two days later in Fort Meade. Her murder was covered in the Netflix documentary The Keepers.

1972 — Lori Lee Kursa, 13, is reported missing by her mother. They’d been shopping at a U-Save store. Kursa would be seen later after having run away. Her body was located in December in a ravine near Santa Rosa, California.

1988 — Dorothea Puente is arrested. The boarding house owner from Sacramento, California, had been murdering boarders and cashing their Social Security checks. She was charged with nine murders.

2005 — Steven Van McHone is executed in North Carolina. He had been convicted of killing his mother and step-father in 1990.
