1978 — Jim Jones leads the Peoples Temple in Jonestown, Guyana, to mass suicide and murder. At least 918 people are killed.

1987 — Russell Dardeen is found deceased with his pregnant wife, Ruby, and their son. Years later, serial killer Tommy Lynn Sells claims he killed the family. He has never been charged because he is imprisoned in another state, and some people have doubts about his confession.

2002 — Wire tapping is deemed legal by the federal government.
