1837 — Elijah Lovejoy is killed by a pro-slavery mob in Alton, Illinois.
1942 — Catherine Cesnik disappears. The Catholic sister taught at a Baltimore school plagued with sexual abuse of students. Her body was discovered near a garbage dump the following January. The murder was the basis of the Netflix docuseries The Keepers.
2014 — Chase Merritt is arrested in the murder of the McStay family. He was Joseph McStay’s business partner. He was sentenced to death for the murders in January of 2020.
