1971 — Alison Craven, 12, goes missing from her mother’s Houston, Texas, apartment. Her body is recovered on February 25 in 1972 10 miles away. Her death is associated with the Texas Killing Fields crimes.

1971 — John List kills his mother, wife, and three children at their Westfield, New Jersey, home. For about a month, nobody realized that List had killed his family and fled. He was on the run for 18 years and was apprehended in 1989. He died in prison in 2008.

1979 — Tammy Jo Alexander is killed. She’d been shot and left near the Genesee River in New York after she’d run away from her Florida home. Her identity remained unknown until 2015.
