Today in True Crime History: October 11
1969 — Paul Stine, 29, is killed in San Francisco. He is a presumed victim of the Zodiac Killer.
1993 — Julie Heath, 18, is killed. Her car broke down, and a man named Eric Nance offered her a ride. He then attacked and murdered her. Her body was found a week later by a hunter. Nance was found guilty of capital murder, and he was sentenced to death. He was executed.
2001 — Thomas Wales, a gun control advocate and prosecutor, is killed. His murder remains unsolved today, but it was announced in 2018 that the FBI believes the killing may have been a paid hit. He’d been shot through a window with a handgun as he sat at his basement computer.
2002 — Kenneth Bridges is shot and killed while getting gas at a Fredericksburg, Virginia, station. His murder was the 8th murder associated with the Washington Area sniper.
