1983 — The Newton County John Does are discovered. They are two unidentified murder victims found by mushroom foragers in Indiana. Their identities and the identity of their murderer remain unknown.

2009 — Richard and Mayumi Heene are accused of carrying out a publicity stunt. They called emergency services to report that their child had been carried away in a large helium balloon. He had been hiding in the home. The family had previously appeared on Wife Swap. The adults would be sentenced to pay restitution.
