1995 — O. J. Simpson is acquitted on two counts of murder in what many call the most publicized criminal trial in history.

1996 — Heather Rich, 16, is murdered. Three teenagers, two of whom Heather apparently knew, were arrested and convicted in the murder.

2003 — Edward Ernest Hartman is executed via lethal injection. He had been convicted of murdering Herman Smith, Sr. 10 years earlier.

2011 — Amanda Knox’s conviction in the death of Meredith Kercher is overturned. She had already served three years in prison.
