1991 — The Alta View Hospital hostage incident occurs. A man with several guns and dynamite comes to the Sandy, Utah, hospital to kill the doctor who performed a tubal ligation on his wife. A nurse was shot and killed after she tried to wrestle away the man’s gun. Other hostages were held for 18 hours, and he ultimately surrendered. He received a sentence of 35 years in prison. He died by suicide in 1993.
1993 — Eddie James murders the owner of the home he lived in and her granddaughter after he came home from a party. He fled and was featured on America’s Most Wanted, and eventually he was captured. He pleaded guilty in April of 1995. He was sentenced to death.
