1999 — Jesse William Dirkhising is killed by two men he was staying with.

2012 — Faith Hedgepeth, a student at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is found dead in her apartment by a friend.

2014 — Shao Tong, an undergraduate student at Iowa State University, is found in the trunk of her car at an apartment complex. She’d been missing for 9 days. Her boyfriend, Li Xiangnan, was prosecuted for the crime in China. He received a life sentence in prison.
