2005 — Taylor Marie Behl, a 17-year-old freshman at Virginia Commonwealth University, is murdered. Her body would be found about a month later. Benjamin Fawley, an amateur photographer, was arrested and charged with her murder as well as 16 counts of child pornography. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison. MySpace played a role in narrowing down the suspect pool.

2018 — Amber Guyger, an off-duty Dallas PD officer, enters the apartment of her upstairs neighbor, Botham Jean, and fatally shoots him. In 2019, Guyger was found guilty of murder and received a sentence of 10 years.
