What I Read in March 2022
I didn’t read much this month. I started a new job that’s kept me pretty busy, so I had to focus on reading for my last semester of grad school. I’ve got about a month and a half left, and the end can’t come soon enough.
Anyway, here’s what I read last month.
Sons & Lovers by D.H. Lawrence
I read Sons & Lovers, my first D.H. Lawrence novel, for my Modern English & Irish literature course. Of course, I’d always heard that it was a masterpiece, but it always seemed intimidating. It was much better (and easier to get through) than I expected.
“Berenice” by Edgar Allan Poe
I read “Berenice” because I needed some more Edgar Allan Poe stories to incorporate into my final paper for my program. I’m writing about the relationship between Poe and modern domestic horror novels, and this short story was recommended by my professor. A very creepy choice!
“The Fall of the House of Usher” by Edgar Allan Poe
I read “The Fall of the House of Usher” for the same reason as I read “Berenice.” It’s more of a paranormal horror story, and it reminds me a lot of V.C. Andrews.
