Who Killed Lisa Gondek?

Lisa Gondek has been dead for more than 35 years, and we don’t know why. Oxnard police detectives are still trying to figure out who killed Lisa on December 12, 1981.

Lisa Gondek, 21, had recently moved from Connecticut to her Oxnard apartment when she was found dead in the bathtub. She’d been strangled and her body was posed in a sexual manner. Her apartment had been set on fire, but detectives were able to retrieve DNA from a bite mark on Gondek’s cheek. Dental records and DNA pulled nothing useful from criminal databases.

The Huntington’s Link

One location could hold the key to solving Gondek’s murder. The night she was killed, Gondek had been dancing at a nightclub at Wagon Wheel Junction in Oxnard called Huntington’s. Many people believe the suspect frequented or worked at the club.

Lisa Gondek was not the only woman killed by this perpetrator. Rachel Zendejas, a woman who lived in nearby Camarillo, had been killed 11 months before Gondek.

Zendejas had been strangled on January 18, 1981, before she was left outside her apartment in a carport. A newspaper deliveryman found her body early in the morning.

Not only does the DNA evidence from Zendejas’s case match the DNA from Gondek’s case, but Zendejas had also been at Huntington’s the night she died. She’d…
